Paper Formatting and Style Guidelines

We asked authors to prepare their contributions with a maximum of 12 pages. Requests for more pages can be made to the organizing committee. We expect the proceedings to be printed in black and white with a color section. That means that each author can prepare two color pages as part of their paper.

Contributions should be prepared according to the guidelines set out by Springer Verlag. Springer Verlag has developed LaTeX2e macro packages for different book types. For the Topology-Based Methods in Visualization Workshop 2005, please use the LaTeX package provided by Springer, "For contributed books, proceedings, and similar". This directory holds the following components of the SVMult tool package:

  1. a subdirectory "styles" with
    • the document class "svmult.cls",
    • the Springer MakeIndex style file "svind.ist"
  2. a subdirectory "templates" with
    • the sample text file "author.tex",
    • the sample figure file "figure.eps"
    • the sample reference file "referenc.tex"
with preset class options, packages and coding examples.

Copy all these files to your working directory, run LaTeX and produce your own example *.dvi file; rename the template files as you see fit and use them for your own input.

  3. the PDF file "quickstart.pdf" with "essentials" for an easy implementation of the "svmono" package (2 pages). This is the file we recommend starting out with when downloading and using the Springer Verlag LaTeX package.
  4. the PDF file "authinst.pdf" with style and coding instructions specific to the subject area or book series you are writing for.
  5. the PDF file "refguide.pdf" describing the SVMult document class features independent of any specific style requirements. Use this as a reference only if you need to alter or enhance the default settings of the SVMult document class and/or the templates.
  6. the PDF file "authsamp.pdf" as an example of a "contribution"
